*ARTWORK NEEDED!*
The Gluyas Rotary Lodge in Townsville is desperately seeking
donations of hanging prints of either landscapes or seascapes to brighten up the
units for their guests. They are in need of around 40 framed pictures and
donors are asked to please attach their names and a little message to accompany
their donation.
The Gluyas Rotary Lodge provides accommodation for regional
cancer patients undergoing outpatient cancer treatment in Townsville. They have
20, one and two bedroom units which are used by patients and their families
from rural and coastal areas.
The Central Queensland Cancer Support Centre in Rockhampton is also in need of
prints. A lot of their patients are from small, remote outback towns, and so
are hoping to obtain pictures that reflect the outback lifestyle and / or
represent the locations they are from. They’d like to acquire 18
pictures, which will be displayed in their common kitchen and hallway areas.
Some history behind the Rockhampton Centre, in March 1993, 2 fully self-contained
units were built behind the office of Cancer Council Queensland. In
September 2009, an additional 6 motel-style rooms were built to meet the rising
demand for their accommodation service. The Lodge was named The Central
Queensland Cancer Support Centre and is often described as a home away from
home for cancer patients and their families.
These are some of the
prints that were donated to the Charles Wanstall Lodge in Herston
